About Melissa Kramer, LCSW

You feel like something is holding you back… whether it’s at work, in your relationship, as a parent, or just in where you thought your life would be by now. For the most part, your life, career, or marriage is ok; but you envision better. You want to feel the depth and intimacy you once felt with your partner and stop the ongoing arguments. You want to stop holding back at work; or feeling inadequate as a parent because you just don’t know what to do next about your child’s behavior. I can help. Maybe you have been in therapy in the past, maybe you have considered it and are ready to take the leap, or maybe you just aren’t quite sure this is for you.

As your therapist, we’ll work collaboratively, focusing and building upon the strengths you already possess and helping you acquire new skills to cope with life stressors in a warm and supportive environment. Together, we’ll work in partnership to help find clarity to situations that hinder your happiness, relationships, and overall satisfaction with your life.

I absolutely love what I do and strive to work as a motivation architect to help individuals tap into their inner strength to make positive changes in their life. I am a New Jersey native who completed my undergraduate education at Stockton University where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Social Work Degree (BSW) with a concentration in child welfare. I attended New York University (NYU) for my graduate education and earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) in the Advanced Standing Program. Throughout my career I have worked in various settings and received specialized training in child development and trauma at New Jersey’s Child Welfare Training Academy through the Department of Children and Families. I have also received specialized training in diagnostic evaluation for adult and child mental health disorders and have worked in psychiatric and behavioral health research. I work with children, families, adult individuals or couples who have an identified struggle and are ready for change.

I truly believe in the capacity for change and have experienced this in my own journey of self-discovery and personal growth. When you work with me you will have someone cheering you on while you walk your own path of self-discovery, a collaborative partner to find and uncover your inner strength, a support to ease the pain of heartache and life’s challenges, and a guide to learn new tools and strategies for creating the best version of yourself. I am dual licensed in both New Jersey and New York and also offer video therapy to individuals in both states when it is not geographically convenient to visit me in my office.

Whether you are ready to make a change and are looking for the right therapist to support you on your journey, or you are still on the fence deciding if this is really right for you…let’s talk. Call for a free phone consultation where we can discuss what is holding you back from the goals you would like to meet and your comfort level. Some people leap into change and never look back. I have never been one of those people. Change is hard…. we get comfortable even in situations we know aren’t the best for us. Sometimes we need to think things through to find clarity, weighing out the options and take steps in smaller, more comfortable increments. The prospect and process of change can be scary, but is doesn’t have to be when you do not face it alone. When you call me, we will discuss if I am the right fit for you. If I am, we can set up an appointment and get to know one another further, discussing your goals and collaboratively building the roadmap to help you meet them. Therapy is very individualized, so if I am not the right fit for you, I will support you to connect with another therapist who may be better able to support your specific needs. Either way, the first phone call is risk free where you can determine if this is the right decision for you.
